Description

While EMDR is best known for the treatment of PTSD, it’s evolved into a comprehensive psychotherapy that addresses a broad range of daily life difficulties, from low self-esteem to relationship difficulties, which are often about unresolved childhood wounds. In this session, you’ll learn about how developmental trauma can be treated with Relational EMDR Therapy, not just by targeting painful memories, but by creating the conditions that make it possible for the client to “go there.” We’ll explore how an attuned “other” enables clients to process painful experiences that have been previously avoided or denied. You’ll discover:

  • How the Adaptive Information Processing model of EMDR therapy informs the relationship between past and present experiences
  • How relational EMDR can help clients move beyond symptom relief and more towards growth and change
  • Specific strategies to navigate the moment-to-moment experiences both in and out of memory reprocessing
  • The relational approaches you can use to co-create corrective emotional experience

This course is not affiliated with EMDRIA and does not qualify toward EMDRIA credits or training.
