Description
This issue looks at the theme of parenting, including how therapists can offer clarity and guidance to struggling parents, how they can help parents effectively heal childhood wounds so as not to create similar ones for their children, and how parents can raise emotionally healthy children while protecting their own mental health. Articles include a trauma therapist’s own story about how parenthood helped him face intergenerational trauma, debunking the myths of “gentle parenting,” how to help the parents of donor-conceived children feel understood, a personal story about navigating a relationship with a surrogate, the parentification of immigrant children, and countering the “mommy brain” stigma. Other articles include a look at common misconceptions about walk-and-talk therapy, and normalizing partners’ sexual fantasies in couples work.
