Description

This issue examines the teen mental health crisis, including upticks in the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and suicide. One article looks at how therapists can support their trans, nonbinary, and gender fluid clients who are impacted by recently enacted and proposed legislation. Another looks at how girls’ mental health is disproportionately affected by social pressures. Another piece features an interview with an expert on boys’ friendships and looks at how boys and young men are in the middle of a “crisis of connection.” Other pieces cover the problem of the adultification of Black youth and demystify what it’s like to live with a dissociative identity. Also included are pieces on strategies to help female clients experiencing diminished sexual desire, and a case study about doing couples work with a client who experienced intimate partner violence.
